Japan's third-largest credit card issuer, Credit Saison, has launched a $50 million investment fund named Onigiri Capital to bolster blockchain-based real-world asset (RWA) applications. Managed by Saison Capital, the fund has already secured $35 million from internal and external investors, with expectations to reach its $50 million target soon.

The initiative underscores Asia's growing influence in blockchain finance, aiming to connect U.S. startups with Asian financial markets. Onigiri Capital will focus on early-stage companies developing payment tools, tokenization platforms, stablecoins, DeFi, and digital economic infrastructure. Target markets include Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines, where demand for RWA innovation is surging.

Fund managers highlight the challenges U.S. blockchain startups face in navigating Asia's regulatory and institutional complexities. Onigiri Capital offers not just funding but also regional expertise, financial networks, and distribution channels, positioning itself as a strategic partner for international scaling and compliance.

Credit Saison, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (8253.T), operates across financial services, real estate, and entertainment, further solidifying its commitment to blockchain innovation.
